The all-new BMW X5 was presented to the world public at a special online presentation on June 5, 2018. The model received the G05 index, an innovative modular CLAR platform, modernized technical filling and stunning design. Distinguishing the fourth generation from its predecessors is not difficult. The proprietary radiator grill, which has greatly increased in size, is striking. It consists of two fused nostrils, taken away with a multitude of relief vertically oriented ribs. The head optics have also changed markedly. She got a more aggressive look, angular lines and modified daytime running lights. The front bumper sports large air intakes covered with black mesh with large hexagonal cells. The feed also turned out to be quite interesting. I would like to note a small spoiler above the glass of the fifth door, narrow brake lights with LED filling and a couple of huge chrome tailpipes of the exhaust system. In general, the car received a dynamic and fast-paced design in the best traditions of the German manufacturer. BMW X 5 is a premium sport utility vehicle. The overall dimensions of the new generation are: length 4922 mm, width 2004 mm, height 1745 mm, and wheelbase 2975 mm. As for the ground clearance, it is expectedly high and is as much as 214 millimeters, versus 209 mm for the F15. Thanks to such a fit, the model will be able to jump onto a high curb, easily transfer a ride on a dirt road and, due to its high energy intensity, will maintain excellent ride quality, even on a bumpy paved road. As for the suspension itself, it has a completely independent layout: two parallel levers at the front and a multi-link at the rear. In basic versions, coil-spring shock absorbers and conventional anti-roll bars are installed in the circle. For an additional fee, you can order pneumatic elements and an active stabilization system. The trunk of the new X5 is quite roomy. With the backs of the second row of seats up, there is about 645 liters of usable space in the back. For the transport of long items, the rear sofa can be folded down and get up to 1,860 liters of usable volume. At the start of sales, the novelty will be equipped with four different engines, proprietary automatic transmissions with 8 ranges and an all-wheel drive system with a multi-plate clutch that connects the wheels of the front axle. As an option, the transmission can be supplemented with a differential lock and special algorithms for the control electronics. Diesel versions of the BMW X5 will be equipped with three-liter turbocharged in-line sixes. The base version develops 265 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque. With such a unit, the car accelerates to one hundred kilometers per hour in 6.5 seconds, reaches a maximum of 230 km / h and consumes about 6.8 liters of diesel fuel per hundred in the combined driving cycle. The more powerful version produces 400 horses and 760 Nm of thrust. In this configuration, acceleration to a hundred will take 5.2 seconds, and the high-speed ceiling will be electronically limited at around 250 km / h. With regard to fuel consumption, it will be 7.2 liters in the same conditions. The petrol range consists of two turbocharged units: an inline-six and a real 4.4-liter V8. In the first case, under the hood there will be 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque, acceleration to 100 km / h will take 5.5 seconds, the maximum speed will be 243 km / h, and the fuel consumption will be 8.8 liters of gasoline in the combined cycle. Top-end configurations boast 462 horses and 650 Nm of thrust. Thanks to such a herd under the hood, the SUV shoots to the first hundred in just 4.7 seconds and also has a 250 km / h limiter. With such a volume, one should not rely on efficiency, even in a quiet driving mode, the car will consume 11.6 liters per hundred in the same driving mode. The BMW X5 has long been a legend in its class. It has an aggressive and memorable design that perfectly emphasizes the character and status of its owner in society. Such a car will not get lost in the gray everyday stream and will look good both on the streets of a metropolis and on dirt roads far from civilization.
