The world debut of the updated Ford EcoSport took place in November 2016 on the catwalks of the Los Angeles Auto Show, however, in the showrooms of domestic dealerships, it appeared only in May 2018. It should be noted that the model is the first planned and rather deep restyling. The manufacturer has significantly shaken up the technical stuffing, refreshed the interior and retouched the design. It will not be difficult to distinguish the new product from its predecessor. It has larger headlights with small round focusing lenses and stylish eyeliner LED daytime running lights. The radiator grill has become a single integral element and is a branded hexagon, covered with several horizontally oriented ribs. The front bumper has received different sections of fog lights. They have an unusual shape and received a conventional reflector instead of a convex lens. The off-road character of the novelty is emphasized by special lining on bumpers, sills and doors. They are made of unpainted durable plastic and are designed to protect the body panels in the most vulnerable places. Ford Ecosport is a five-seat compact urban crossover. By its size, it belongs to the subcompact class. It is only 4325 mm long, 1670 mm high and 1765 mm wide. The distance between the axles will be about 2519 mm, and the ground clearance will be 200 mm. This fit is typical for most members of this class. It allows you to drive onto curbs, maintain a smooth ride on uneven roads and feel comfortable on the track. Suspension architecture may vary depending on the type of drive. In the basic versions, there are independent McPherson struts with an anti-roll bar at the front, and a semi-independent elastic beam at the rear. In more advanced variants, there will be a true multi-link on the rear axle. For the Russian market, the manufacturer has prepared two engines, five-speed manual transmissions and a new automatic transmission that replaced the robot. The drive, as before, for basic models is front, and for an additional fee, a full drive is available, with a rear axle connected through a multi-plate clutch. Base models will receive a completely new naturally aspirated gasoline engine of the Dragon series. it has only three cylinders, two camshafts, and the total volume of the combustion chambers is 1498 cubic centimeters. The engineers managed to squeeze out 123 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 151 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. With such a unit, the high-speed ceiling will be at around 175 kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption will be 6.4-6.8 liters of gasoline per hundred kilometers in the combined cycle. Older trim levels will receive an updated two-liter four from Duratec. It produces 148 horses at 6000 rpm and 4500 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. Such a car will be able to gain 180 kilometers per hour and will consume about 8.5 liters of fuel per hundred in the same driving mode. In rich trim levels, Ecosport can be equipped with a multimedia center with a 6.5-inch color touchscreen, combination leather seats, climate control, seven airbags, new design alloy wheels, parking sensors and a rear-view camera, full power accessories and heating , as well as light and rain sensors.
