The new Mercedes-Benz G-class debuted in early 2018 at the NAIAS winter international auto show. Many were afraid that with the change of generation, "Gelik" would lose its legendary angular appearance, however, this did not happen. Despite the fact that the third generation has a completely new, wider body with unique panels, the designers did a great job and were able to maintain all proportions and keep the classic lines. Distinguishing the new product from its predecessor is not difficult, it has more oval headlights with large rectangular focusing lenses and an elegant border of LED daytime running lights along the contour. The radiator grille retained its shape, but due to a more efficient engine, its capacity had to be increased. From now on, it is a metal mesh with small diamond-shaped cells and thin horizontally oriented overlays. The rectangular air intakes located on the protruding lower bumper are decorated in the same style. In general, from now on, the design of the car can be called neoclassical. It organically combines modern technologies and design of the iconic model, loved by many. Mercedes Benz G-class is a real premium class SUV. Compared to its predecessor, the third generation has grown noticeably in all directions. Its overall dimensions are: length 4825 mm, width 1931 mm, height 1969 mm, and wheelbase 2890 mm. The car's ground clearance is truly impressive - 241 millimeters. Such a ground clearance will allow the car to easily overcome a deep rut, drive onto a high curb, while parking and maintain excellent smoothness on all types of road surfaces. From a technical point of view, the third generation is strikingly different from the previous generation. It is based on a completely new ladder-type spar frame. In addition, for the first time in the history of the model, a fully independent suspension was installed at the front, instead of the classic continuous axle. This innovation should make the car more manageable and stable, albeit less passable. At the back, there is still a completely dependent architecture with springs, Panhard rod and trailing arms. The Mercedes-Benz G-class will be equipped with a huge V-shaped turbocharged petrol unit with a volume of 3982 cubic centimeters. Thanks to its modern turbocharger and large displacement, it produces 422 horsepower from 5250 to 5500 rpm and 610 Nm of torque from 2000 to 4750 rpm. All generated torque goes to a nine-speed automatic transmission with several operating modes of the control electronics. Traction is distributed between the axles in a ratio of 40:60 in favor of the rear axle, an electronically controlled clutch with the ability to lock is responsible for this process. As a result, with such a herd under the hood, an SUV weighing 2.5 tons breaks down from zero to a hundred in 5.9 seconds and reaches a maximum of about 210 kilometers per hour. With such a monster under the hood, you shouldn't hope for economy, however, its appetites are quite moderate for this size. Gelendvagen will consume about 14.9 liters of gasoline per hundred kilometers in the city, 9.8 liters during a quiet trip on a country road and 11.7 liters per hundred kilometers in a combined cycle. The G-class managed to win the love of motorists thanks to its unusual appearance and off-road qualities. He has a solid angular design, which perfectly emphasizes the individuality and status of its owner in society.
