The Opel Agila subcompact car debuted in the spring of 2000 at the Geneva Motor Show. The development of the car was carried out jointly by specialists from Opel and Suzuki. Despite its small size, the car can provide a comfortable fit for four passengers and hold 248 liters of luggage. Some of the interior details of the car, especially the dashboard and steering wheel, are borrowed from the Opel Astra. A 1-liter power unit with 58 horsepower or a 1.2-liter engine with 75 horsepower was installed under the hood of the model. The engines are economical and belong to the ECOTEC family. In the spring of 2002, the German manufacturer introduced the top-end version of the Opel Agila, equipped with a 1.2-liter 16V Ecotec engine. The car had a two-tone body color and differed in a number of original elements. In 2003, a facelift of the car was carried out, as a result of which the model acquired new bumpers and paint. All Opel Agila engines have now met the Euro 4 environmental requirements. New Common Rail diesel engines with a capacity of 70 to 150 horsepower have also been added. In 2007, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the premiere of a new model - Opel Agila B. Like the previous generation, the car was created in cooperation with Suzuki.
