Opel Insignia is one of the few cars that have retained their platform after the change of ownership. In 2017, the German brand passed from General Motors to the French from PSA. The second and current, at the moment, generation was presented quite recently, in the same seventeenth. The life cycle of the model had just begun, and there was no point in making drastic changes right away. On the other hand, the new owner will have to put up with the fact that in the car being produced, almost all units are developed by another concern. However, this did not stop the French from adding a touch of individuality and conducting a modest first restyling. Astra underwent the same operation, but on a much larger scale. To distinguish the new product from its predecessor, first of all, it is worth noting the new headlights. They got single L-shaped sections of daytime running lights at the bottom instead of two thin stripes. Moreover, the filling itself has changed. For an additional fee, you can order the matrix sections IntelliLux LED Pixel Light. They have 84 LEDs arranged in three rows instead of 16 in the pre-reform version. The radiator grille has also been transformed. It has become noticeably wider, received a new 3D pattern and more compact chrome lining. Following her, the front bumper was also changed. It has an enlarged center air intake and smaller sections with fog lamps. New exhaust pipes and safety systems can be seen at the stern. The rear-view camera received a viewing angle increased to 90 degrees, and the radar sensors work at a distance of up to 20 meters. Opel Insignia is a five-seater mid-size car. It is available in two body styles: a liftback and a five-door station wagon. In the first version, the model is 4897 mm long, 1863 mm wide, 1455 mm high and 2829 mm between the wheelsets. The station wagon is 29 mm longer and 45 mm higher. The car is based on the D2XX platform. It has a fully independent suspension. There are McPherson struts in the front, and multi-link architecture in the back. For an additional fee, you can order a set of FlexRide systems. It includes adaptive dampers with three damping modes. Among other things, it affects the sharpness of the accelerator, automatic transmission algorithms, stabilization system and power steering. Most likely, only GM engines will be presented. It is worth recalling that the palette has been greatly thinned out even before the restyling. The petrol section is represented by 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged units. They develop 140 and 160 horsepower. The younger versions are compatible only with a manual transmission, and the older ones, for an additional fee, are equipped with a classic six-speed hydromechanical automatic. For heavy fuel lovers, there are 1.6-liter fours for 110 and 136 horsepower and a more advanced two-liter unit for 170 horses.
