The relaunch of the legendary Acura NSX, marketed in the old world under the Honda brand, took place in 2015 at the North American Auto Show. Several years have passed since then and the manufacturer decided to update the model. The novelty is the first planned and relatively extensive restyling. First of all, the software for the control electronics of the suspension and engine has undergone changes, as well as some mechanical elements. The list of basic equipment has been increased and new interior materials have been added. After restyling, you can order the upholstery made of semi-aniline leather in blue or red. It is paired with black Alcantara inserts. Among other things, carbon fiber inserts are available to order. This option costs about $ 3800. As for the exterior, it has generally remained virtually unchanged. You can distinguish the new product from the pre-reform model by the central trim on the radiator grill. It used to have a chrome finish and is now painted in body color. Among other things, more glossy black moldings have been added to the body. Acura NP is a two-seater coupe supercar. It measures 4487 mm in length, 1939 mm in width, 1204 mm in height and 2630 mm between the axles. The ground clearance is expectedly small and is only 104 millimeters. The car is based on a space frame made of aluminum alloys and ultra-strong grades of steel. The floor is made of carbon fiber and the outer panels are made of winged metal. In the manufacture of metal parts, the method of ablative casting was used. It achieves strength comparable to forged counterparts. Suspensions are fully independent on two wishbones. Anti-roll bars are installed in a circle; after restyling, their rigidity was increased by 26% and 19% for the front and rear, respectively. They also revised the camber and toe angles and replaced the rear hubs. Among other things, the algorithm of the blocks responsible for the adaptive struts and steering has been changed. What's more, the car comes with the new Continental SportContact 6 tires. The manufacturer recommends the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires to compete on the racetrack. In total, these improvements have helped reduce the Suzuka track time by two seconds. As before, the Acura NSX is equipped with a rather sophisticated hybrid powertrain. In general, it repeats the pre-reform version and differs, for the most part, in the program of the electronic control unit. It is based on a V-shaped petrol six with two turbochargers. It sits directly behind the rear seats, within the wheelbase, giving the car a nearly perfect 42:58 axle mass balance. It transmits torque to the rear axle through a nine-speed dual-clutch robotized gearbox. Among other things, a 48-horsepower electric motor is also installed there. Two electric motors for 36 forces are responsible for the drive of the front wheels. As a result, the total peak output of the supercar is 581 horsepower and 654 Nm of torque. From a place to a hundred, it breaks down in just 2.9 seconds and is maximum capable of gaining up to 308 kilometers per hour. The basic equipment of the Acura NSX has become somewhat richer after restyling. If earlier, when buying, you had to pay extra for sports seats with more developed lateral support, parking radar sensors, aluminum pedals and a standard navigation system, now all these options are included in the standard equipment list. In addition to the new interior trim materials, another color, Thermal Orange Pearl, has become available for purchase. It can be used to paint the brake calipers. It is worth noting that each color of the car is named after the racetrack, this time it is a reference to the Thermal Raceway located in the USA.
