The Italian sports car Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione premiered as a concept car at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. The body lines of this car are reminiscent of the style of the Alpha models from the 1930s and 40s. The name of the car has also been used earlier - in 1948, the 6C 2500 Competizione was produced. This sports car raced in the Mille Miglia in 1949 and 1950, finishing in third place both times. Serial production of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was not originally planned. But already in 2005, a roadster of the same name was shown at Pebble Beach. And a year later, at an exhibition in Paris, the company announced the launch of the coupe in a series. True, the series was strictly limited to only 500 copies. The car is equipped with a 4.7-liter engine developing 450 horsepower. The sports car reaches the 100 km / h mark in 4.2 seconds after the start. And the maximum speed of the car is 293 km / h. In 2009, production of the open-body Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione began. The premiere of the serial version of this car took place at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008. The production of this machine is also limited to 500.
