The original Aston Martin Vantage coupe debuted back in 2017, and with the release of the open version, the manufacturer delayed and introduced it only in mid-February 2020. Despite such a solid period, we can say that the customers were not waiting in vain. The car received outstanding performance. The roof is made of fabric with a Z-shaped folding mechanism and an electric drive. It takes 6.7 seconds to fold and 6.8 seconds to unfold. Thus, at the moment, the novelty has the world's fastest convertible top. This operation can be done when driving at a speed not exceeding 50 km / h. Another difference between the Roadster version is the different radiator grille. In the coupe, it was originally a continuous mesh with small cells, which was somewhat out of the ordinary sophisticated image of the British brand. For the roadster, the designers have developed a more classic solution with thin vertical and horizontal ribs intersecting at right angles. Also, aerodynamic guiding elements disappeared from the bumper. After the roadster was released, it became possible to order such a grille for the closed version. The Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is a premium two-seater open-top sports car. Like its sister coupe, its length is 4465 mm, width is 1942 mm, height is 1273, and the wheelbase is 2704 mm. The vehicle is based on a spatial winged metal alloy structure with steel exterior hinges. The lack of a rigid roof led to the need to reinforce the bottom, which, in turn, led to an increase in mass. Even with the "light" options, the roadster has a dry weight of 1,628 kilograms, which is 60 kilograms more than the closed version. Among other things, the convertible top and its mechanisms "ate" a little space in the trunk. The volume has decreased from 350 liters to 200. The distribution of mass along the axles has slightly changed with an increase towards the stern. As a result of these changes, the chassis had to be reconfigured. Adaptive struts with three modes of shock absorber stiffness have been retained. The powertrain of the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is the same as that of the coupe. This is a V-shaped gasoline eight from the Daimler concern with two turbochargers and a direct fuel supply system. It develops 510 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 685 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm. As a transmission, an exclusively classic hydromechanical eight-speed automatic is offered. For the coupé, as an alternative, a manual variable transmission can be ordered. The drive is exclusively rearward, through an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The increase in mass could not but affect the dynamics. Acceleration from zero to first hundred takes 3.8 seconds, which is 0.2 more than the original. The maximum speed, provided that the top is raised, will not exceed 308 kilometers per hour.
