The original BMW I3 appeared before the general public back in 2013. In this form, it was produced until 2017, when the manufacturer decided to carry out a small upgrade. In fact, the new product is the first planned restyling and continues to wear the I01 in-plant index. On the technical side, the manufacturer practically did not make significant changes. The main innovation is the increased capacity battery. The pre-reform models were equipped exclusively with one 21.6 kWh battery. From now on, for an additional fee, you can order elements with a capacity increased to 33.2 kW * h. Moreover, an additional gasoline engine, called by the manufacturer "Range Extender", will be offered for all versions, regardless of the type of battery. The lion's share of the improvements fell on the visual component, so the restyling can be called more fashionable. Several new items have been added to the color palette. Among other things, the car has received fully LED optics and a more advanced version of the proprietary iDrive multimedia system. She received a screen enlarged to 10.25 inches and a standard navigation system capable of displaying free charging stations on the map. It is noteworthy that it is synchronized exclusively with Apple products through the CarPlay service. Android Auto is not supported. As for the exterior, you can distinguish the restyling of the BMW I3 from the pre-reform modification by the new bumpers. At the front, there is an enlarged central air intake and other sections of the fog lamps. All external lighting equipment of the car is LED. Instead of round "tumanok" with halogen lamps and round reflectors, there are more modern elongated sections. Also, LED eyeliner appeared on the headlights. BMW I3 is a compact urban four-seat hatchback. It measures 4011 mm long, 1775 mm wide, 1598 mm high and 2570 mm between the wheelsets. The ground clearance is focused for the most part exclusively on urban use. Only 139 millimeters remains under the car's underbody. As far as the platform is concerned, it is similar to the architecture of most electric cars. It is surprising that despite the progressive nature of the car, its structure strongly resembles the layout of the models of the last century. At the heart of the Ay3 is battery storage. It fits into an aluminum frame to which a fully independent chassis is attached, collectively known as the Drive. In the front there are McPherson struts, and in the back there is a multi-link layout. Above, on this structure, a cabin called Life is installed. It is made up mostly of molded recycled plastic, but its frame is made of carbon fiber composite, aluminum alloys and high-strength steels. The compartment weighs only 180 kilograms. By default, the car is equipped with one electric motor. It is capable of delivering up to 170 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Power is supplied from a rechargeable battery with a total voltage of 360 volts. She has a cooling system that intersects with the air conditioning system. For an additional fee, it is proposed to equip the car with an internal combustion engine. It is a tiny 650cc two-cylinder in-line unit with eight valves. It produces 38 horses and has no direct connection to the wheels. The result is an extremely consistent hybrid powertrain. A single-stage gearbox is used as a transmission, all power is transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels. As a result, the hatchback is capable of accelerating from zero to hundreds, depending on the configuration, in 6.9-7.3 seconds. The maximum speed due to a simple transmission is low - 150-160 km / h. The power reserve in the most economical mode will not exceed 200 km on only fully charged batteries.
