The five-door Chery Kimo hatchback debuted at the Beijing Auto Show in the fall of 2006. The model went into serial production in 2007. The car is based on the Daewoo Matiz platform. A lot of specialists from various countries were engaged in the development of cars. Thus, the Chinese engineers designed the ACTECO subcompact engine together with the AVL company located in Austria. The interior and exterior of the car was created in the famous Italian studio Bertone. Chery Kimo received airbags from the Swedish company Autoliv. German experts from Bosch worked on the assembly of the ECU. Before entering the market, the car passed about 30 certification tests, as well as high-speed and comprehensive reliability tests with a duration of about 300 thousand kilometers. The Russian version of the car is equipped with a single engine - a 1.3-liter DOHC engine with 83 horsepower. There are also models with a 1.1-liter power unit producing 68 horsepower. Chery Kimo is supplied to the Russian market only in the Comfort configuration. In the United States, the car is known under the index A1. It premiered here in 2008.
