Mitsubishi was founded in 1873 by Yataro Iwasaki. It was originally a shipbuilding and ship repair company. Today the company manufactures a wide range of vehicles - from buses and heavy trucks to compact city cars. The headquarters is located in the city of Tokyo. Mitsubishi's first production car, the Model-A, was released in Japan in 1917 and immediately gained popularity. After the war, the production of passenger cars resumed only in 1960 with the release of the Mitsubishi 500 sedan. In 1982, Mitsubishi launched the famous Mitsubishi Pajero SUV on the automotive market. Today Mitsubishi is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world.
