The Daewoo Nubira family debuted in March 1997, becoming the largest in the Korean company's model range. The car was produced in three body types: a five-door hatchback, a five-door station wagon and a four-door sedan. The model, bearing the J100 index, was supposed to replace the aging Daewoo Espero in the European market. The development of the car was carried out by the same specialists who designed the Daewoo Leganza. The structure as a whole was created in Great Britain, the motors were developed in Germany, the bodies were designed in Italy. In this regard, the car looks very European, although it retains the features inherent in Daewoo. In 1999, Daewoo Nubira underwent restyling, receiving the Nubira II index in the domestic market and J150 in the rest of the world. Changes affected the exterior, chassis and interior. In the same year, the production of a hatchback car ceased. In 2002, the manufacturer introduced the new Daewoo Nubira model. The car had a completely different platform. In addition, the car received a new name - Daewoo Lacetti. All cars were equipped with 1.6-, 1.8- or 2-liter gasoline engines. Until 2008, Daewoo Nubira was produced in Romania under an official license.
