The GMC Yukon is a large seven-seater SUV aimed primarily at the North American market, with a new generation unveiled in the US in early 2020. The new model, which in its homeland is often referred to the category of "family SUVs", appeared in several modifications at once. The GMC lineup has been expanded with standard and extended versions: Yukon and, accordingly, Yukon XL. The list of trim levels for the fifth generation GMC Yukon has expanded thanks to the AT4 version, which is more suitable for off-road use, and Denali, which is positioned as premium. For the first time presented in the GMC model range, the AT4 version differs from Denali both in external features - a different design of the radiator grille, front and rear bumpers - and in the interior design. And inside the differences are very significant. The AT4 and Denali versions have a different design solution for the upper part of the dashboard and the location of the 10.2-inch multimedia system screens. In the first case, the touch screen is raised above the center console and the upper part protrudes beyond its limits. In the more premium version, the multimedia screen is built into the center console, and on top of it there are air vents for the climate control system. In addition, the Yukon in the Denali version is distinguished by more premium finishing materials. Both versions offer customers a best-in-class 15-inch color head-up display. The Yukon 4AT is equipped with 20-inch Goodyear off-road tires, while the Denali version comes with 9 all-round cameras and 22-inch wheels. With the change of generations, the Yukon has increased in all dimensions. The standard length of the new car is 5334 mm (previous generation - 5179 mm), width - 2057 mm (2044 mm) and height - 1943 mm (1890 mm). The wheelbase has grown to 3071 mm. Thanks to this, as well as the transition to the use of an independent rear suspension, it became possible to significantly - up to 2056 liters (with the third row seats folded) - increase in the volume of the luggage compartment and lower the floor level in the cabin. Thus, the legroom for passengers in the second row of seats is now 1,067 mm. To increase cross-country ability, the ground clearance of the GMC Yukon can be changed by 50 mm - from 203 to 254 - thanks to the use of shock absorbers with an adjustable degree of damping in the suspension, which in this case is realized by using a magneto-rheological fluid in their design. The Yukon now has a 3-liter inline six-cylinder turbo diesel engine, which was previously offered on the SUVs of its sister brand, Chevrolet. At the same time, as before, the V-shaped petrol "eight" with a volume of 5.3 liters and a capacity of 355 horsepower will remain the "base" engine for the new SUV. She has not undergone major updates compared to the previous generation. Except it now uses an improved partial cylinder deactivation system - two to four - to improve efficiency. For the Denali version, a 6.2-liter V-shaped gasoline engine is provided. The Yukon drivetrain has been seriously revamped. The new generation model has a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, replacing the old 6-speed. An electronic limited slip differential as well as the new Active Response 4WD off-road assistance system is offered exclusively in the AT4 version. In the global model line of GM GMC Yukon and Yukon XL occupy a more privileged position than the soplatform Chevrolet Tahoe and, accordingly, Suburban. For the price of comparable equipment in the case of Yukon models, you will have to pay a little more. At the same time, both externally, and especially in terms of interior, Yukon and Tahoe of the latest generations do not differ much. The only significant difference is the Denali version, which, by the way, is named after the highest mountain in Alaska and North America. A similar top-end version is missing from the Chevrolet lineup. In Russia, the GMC brand and its lineup have never been officially presented. Nevertheless, small quantities of cars of this American brand are imported into our country privately by fans of these full-size SUVs. On the secondary market, you can find a number of advertisements for the sale of Yukons of the first and second generations at a price of 600,000 - 800,000 rubles.
