The tenth generation Honda Civic was released in 2015 and became a hit in the American market. In the overall standings among all cars, taking into account popular pickups and crossovers, it ranks eighth, and among cars it is second only to such a bestseller as the Camry. But a considerable number of years have passed since the release, by automotive standards, and the manufacturer decided to give the model an update. It resulted in the first planned and rather superficial restyling, so as not to frighten off the success. The model received practically no changes in technical terms, new combinations of power units and transmissions became available to the buyer. In the cabin, the finishing materials have slightly changed, and most importantly, the manufacturer has worked on sound insulation. Additional protection has appeared on the floor panels, in the trunk and on the wheel arches. As for the appearance, it is difficult to distinguish the novelty, but it is possible by some elements. The most obvious detail is the headlights. Regardless of the type of filling, they received a stylish dark backing. The model also received a new design of alloy wheels. Among other things, additional sections appeared on the front bumper, painted in body color. Honda Civic is a five-seater Golf class car. It is offered in three versions: a five-door hatchback, a sedan and a coupe. In the first case, it is 4518 mm long, 1799 mm wide, 1434 mm high and 2697 mm between the wheelsets. As for the rest of the bodies, the sedan is 112 mm longer and the coupe is 25 mm shorter. The ground clearance is slightly below average and is only 130 millimeters. The platform hasn't changed much. It also has a modular structure and is characterized by a wide content of high strength alloys. The suspension is independent in a circle. On the front axle there are McPherson struts with rigid levers and a subframe, and at the rear there is a multi-link system. Trunk size is slightly above average. The sedan and hatchback are capable of delivering 420 and 428 liters in the standard position, while the coupe is only 343. Under the hood of the Honda Civic, there have been no major changes. In the old world, as before, two power units are offered. They are combined with two variable transmissions. Six-speed classic mechanics are offered by default. Alternatively, you can order a version with a proprietary stepless variator. The base engine is a manufacturer-specific two-liter inline-four. It has distributed fuel injection and a proprietary variable valve timing and valve lift system. Thanks to this set, the engineers managed to squeeze out 158 horsepower at 6500 crankshaft rpm and 187 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. Alternatively, a new engine in the Earth Dreams series can be ordered at an additional cost. In addition to VTEC, it boasts a turbocharging system and direct fuel supply. This combination made it possible to get 174 horses from a modest 1.5 liters at 6000 rpm and 220 Nm of thrust in the range from 1700 to 5500 rpm. A major and decisive change to the optional equipment list for the new Honda Civic is the Honda Sensing driver assistance system. From now on, it installs by default on absolutely all configurations at no additional cost. It is based on adaptive radar cruise control, which automatically maintains the distance behind the vehicle in front, as well as to prevent collisions. The second component is the lane tracking system. She is able to keep the car in the selected lane, which, together with the previous system, forms a kind of autopilot.
