Production of the original Land Rover Defender 110 ended in 2016. The car was produced from the forties of the last century and until recently remained faithful to the classic off-road layout with a frame and continuous axles, as well as an angular design. Three years later, at the international autumn Frankfurt Motor Show 2019, the manufacturer showed a completely new version. It is made according to all modern off-road canons. It is connected with the previous generation only by the name of the complete sets. The car received a completely different layout, a modern platform, a proprietary set of modular engines, a rich list of equipment and a modern interior. It lost its Spartan design, however, it did not lose its practicality. The manufacturer claims that it can be washed with a hose, thanks to the rubberized floor covering and special drains. By default, the seats are finished with durable fabric upholstery, and for an additional fee, you can order leather upholstery and even wood inserts on the panel. As for the exterior, the designers were faced with the task of rethinking the legendary car and transferring its spirit to a new platform. In general, the car has something in common with the rest of the model line of the manufacturer, however, received more brutal proportions. Rectangular headlights are striking, as well as protective body kits on bumpers, sides and embossed wheel arches, in which discs with a diameter of 18 to 19 inches can be located. Land Rover Defender 110 is a premium five-door SUV. The index in the title refers us to the original model. This was the name of the extended version with a wheelbase of 110 inches. The modern car already has a completely different size. It measures 5,018 mm in length, excluding the spare wheel on the boot lid, 1996 mm in width, 1967 mm in height and 3,022 mm between the wheelsets. It is based on the D7x platform. It is an upgraded version of the D7u, on which the current Discovery is built. The suspension is completely independent. Two wishbones at the front and a multi-link at the rear. 110 is equipped with air suspension by default. By default, it maintains a ground clearance of 216 millimeters. When switching to off-road mode, it increases to 291 mm. For a short time, the ground clearance can be increased by another 70 mm to overcome serious off-road conditions. To load luggage, the pressure can be lowered, then the car will lower by 50 mm. For the Land Rover Defender 110, the manufacturer has prepared a wide range of power units. They all belong to the Ingenium modular palette. The base variants are equipped with a two-liter turbocharged diesel four. They are indexed D200 and D240, reflecting the peak power of the motor. A little later, the P300 will be presented with a two-liter petrol four. The top-of-the-line P400 will receive a three-liter inline-six with 400 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 48-volt starter-generator and an additional electric compressor. In all cases, a hydromechanical ZF automatic transmission with eight steps is installed. Transfer case with two stages, permanent full drive. For an additional fee, a limited-slip rear differential can be ordered.
