The second generation Lexus GX entered the global market in 2009 and was produced without significant changes until 2013, when the manufacturer decided to carry out the first restyling, which lasted until 2019. Apparently, the car platform turned out to be successful and remained relevant after 10 years. In the 2020 model year, the car will receive an update, which is actually a second and not very deep restyling. The modernization will not affect the technical stuffing, will introduce several new parts in the cabin, expand the list of additional equipment, and also give the model a more modern appearance. You can distinguish the new product from the pre-reform version by the completely redrawn front part, made in full accordance with the current, at the moment, corporate style. It received a huge spindle-shaped grille, extending from the edge of the bonnet to the bottom of the front bumper. Like other current models, it consists of many embossed plastic cells. The headlights have also been transformed. Instead of round focusing lenses, they received a more modern LED filling. Lexus G-X is a real premium class SUV. It measures about 4880 mm long, 1845 mm high, 1885 mm wide and 2790 mm between the wheelsets. The ground clearance is expectedly solid. In the curb position, about 215 millimeters remain between the bottom point of the bottom and the road. The car is based on a platform from Toyota Prado. Its characteristic feature is the classic layout with a longitudinal arrangement of the power unit and a frame to which a semi-independent suspension is attached. At the front there are two wishbones with a stabilizer bar, and at the back there is a continuous axle. It is also worth noting that the car is equipped with pneumatic elements. By default, the GX's cabin is five-seater, however, at an additional cost, an additional third row of seats can be ordered. In this layout, the boot size is reduced to 104 liters. By default, when loaded under the top shelf, the vehicle can hold up to 621 liters of cargo. With the rear sofa folded down, this parameter increases to 1833 liters. As before, under the hood of the Lexus GX is a V-shaped gasoline eight-cylinder power unit with 4.6 liters. Thanks to the proprietary variable valve timing system and solid volume, it is capable of developing 296 horses at 5500 rpm and 438 Nm of thrust starting from 3500 rpm. The transmission is a six-speed classic hydromechanical automatic with six operating ranges. It transmits torque to the all-wheel drive system with a Torsen limited-slip center differential. As a result, acceleration to a hundred will take 8.3 seconds, and the high-speed ceiling will be located at around 175 km / h. Fuel consumption in the combined driving cycle will be 12.8 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers. As befits the premium segment, the Lexus GX has a rich list of optional equipment. After restyling, a new multifunction steering wheel can be seen in the cabin. It received a more modern design with three spokes, as well as all the necessary control buttons. Also, there is a new option for interior decoration. It is a combination of aluminum inserts with veneer overlays. What's more, the Lexus Safety System +, with all the advanced driver assistance systems, is already included as standard.
