The Mazda RX-8 sports car debuted in 2002. The four-seater car was unlike other sports models and was equipped with the new Renesis rotary piston engine. Having developed it, Japanese engineers were able to reduce gasoline consumption by 20%, oil by 50% and meet the environmental standards of Euro 4. As a result, the engine received the title of "Engine of the Year 2003". The sporty design of the car is characterized by a large nose-air intake and developed front fenders, and the aggressive lines of the hood, bumper, five-pointed grille only emphasize its belonging to the segment of sports cars. The compact engine provided comfortable seating for all four passengers. There is also room for a spacious luggage compartment with a capacity of 290 liters. To install the doors, the Freestyle scheme was used, in which the doors open from the center of the car. In addition, the Mazda RX-8 lacks B-pillars, making it easier to access the rear seats. At the same time, the safety of the car is preserved by installing vertical power elements in the rear doors. Active safety is represented by DSC, ABS and EBD systems, as well as front and side airbags and protective air curtains. Mazda completed production of this model in 2010.
