The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Klasse Coupe was first unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in 1997. Externally, the car was very similar to the E-class, but the platform for the car was taken from the compact C-class. The coupe received a hardtop body without B-pillars and wide doors without window frames, but despite this, the designers were able to provide a high level of side protection due to the powerful transverse and stiffening ribs in the doors. However, the hardtop is not the best body type for harsh climates due to the frequent freezing of glass in cold weather. The interior of the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Klasse Coupe is decorated with leather, wood and is equipped with a lot of electronics: a rear window blind with a remote control, multicontour seats with inflatable cameras, etc. The car is designed for four people; to sit fifth will interfere with a 25-centimeter armrest between the rear seats, equipped with a tray for small things. The new generation of the coupe was shown in 2002. Its platform and powertrains are similar to those presented in the C-class sedan; the salon is also similar in style to the C-class. Mercedes-Benz CLK-Klasse Coupe was produced until 2009, when it was replaced by E-class models. The CLK lineup was expanded with the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Klasse Cabriolet in 1998. A year later, the design of the car was updated; and in 2000 the family consisted of 10 complete sets, which were also supplemented by two new engines. In March 2003, a new generation Cabriolet made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, having grown by 7 centimeters in length. The car received a fairly roomy trunk for its class with a capacity of 390 liters and a spacious rear seat. Also, the developers revised the power structure of the body and improved aerodynamics, bringing the streamlining coefficient to 0.3. In the spring of 2005, modernized convertibles, assembled at the enterprises of the German concern in Bremen, entered the market. The improved Mercedes-Benz CLK-Klasse Cabriolet received a new grille, hood, optics and interior trim. Of course, the range of engines and active safety systems have been updated. A comfortable ride was provided by the presence of ABS, ESP and BAS. In the fall of 2005, a special version of the convertible was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show, modified by AMG tuning specialists. In 2009, the CLK-class was replaced by the E-class.
