At the 2012 New York International Auto Show, the German manufacturer unveiled the highly anticipated Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. In fact, the new product is a full-fledged second generation, and not just another planned wrestling. She received the X166 index, a modernized technical filling, a luxurious interior, an extended list of options and a stunning design. It will not be difficult to distinguish the second generation from its predecessor; large headlights with elegant cilia of daytime running lights and large focusing lenses are striking. The radiator grille has a pentagonal shape and is made in the corporate style. It consists of two large horizontally oriented overlays, on top of which the manufacturer's logo is located. The front bumper has got a large trapezoidal air intake, covered with a black metal mesh with many small cells, and a raised protective strip on the lower edge. In general, the model received a monumental and solid design, in the best traditions of the brand. Mercedes-Benz G-El class is a premium SUV. Its overall dimensions are: length 5120 mm, width 2141 mm, height 1850 mm, and the wheelbase is 3075 mm. As for the ground clearance, it directly depends on the position of the air suspension. By default, about 200 millimeters remain under the bottom, and, in the maximum position, the ground clearance is an impressive 285 mm. In addition, the model boasts a sophisticated all-wheel drive system with numerous assistants and several operating modes of the control electronics. Thanks to this arsenal, GL will show itself perfectly both on rough terrain and on public roads, it can easily overcome a ford up to 60 centimeters and maintain excellent smoothness, even on broken surfaces. The trunk of an SUV can please with its excellent spaciousness. With the backs of the second row of seats up, there is about 680 liters of free space in the back. For the transportation of bulky goods, seats can be donated and free flesh up to 2300 liters of usable volume. In the domestic market, the SUV is equipped with three different engines, exclusively seven-speed automatic transmissions and a proprietary all-wheel drive system. Thanks to a good range of units and a good transmission, the model becomes quite versatile and is able to satisfy the needs of a wide target audience. The most profitable, in terms of fuel efficiency and taxation, is the 350 BlueTEC. It is equipped with a three-liter turbodiesel V6 with 249 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque. Such models accelerate to one hundred kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds, gain a maximum of 220 km / h and consume only 8 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers in a combined cycle. If we talk about gasoline engines, then the basic offer is the GL 400 with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. Such a unit develops 333 hp and 480 Nm of thrust. Acceleration to a hundred will take 6.7 seconds, and the high-speed ceiling is at around 220 km / h. Despite the good power, in quiet driving modes, the SUV will consume only 9.6 liters of gasoline in the same driving mode. The most equipped version of the GL 500 will receive a 4.7-liter V8 with a turbocharger. Thanks to the huge displacement, the engineers managed to squeeze out 435 hp and 700 Nm of thrust. With such a herd under the hood, the 2.5-ton SUV shoots to the first hundred in 5.4 seconds and has an electronic speed limiter at 250 km / h. As for fuel consumption, it is expectedly high - 11.5 liters of gasoline per hundred in the combined cycle. The second generation Mercedes-Benz GL-Class combines the dynamics of a sports car with the practicality and off-road capability of an SUV. He has a solid and memorable design, which, in the best possible way, will emphasize the character and status of its owner in society. Such a car will look harmonious both in a busy metropolis and on dirt roads far from civilization. The salon is a realm of luxury, exclusive finishing materials, practicality and uncompromising comfort. Even a country trip or a dense traffic jam will not be able to deliver the slightest inconvenience to the owner. The manufacturer is well aware that models of this class, first of all, should give driving pleasure. That is why, under the hood of the SUV there is a powerful and technologically advanced engine, which is a fusion of advanced developments and legendary German quality.
