On February 27, 2012, Nissan announced its intention to start production of a completely new car created specifically for Russia, and bearing the name Almera already known to Russians. Then it was said that the new Nissan Almera will be assembled at the plant in Togliatti. The Nissan Almera was supposed to become a gateway for the Japanese automaker to the massive and fast-growing segment of budget cars, as well as allow it to increase its share of the Russian market to 7%, as required by the strategic development plan "Nissan Power 88". The Nissan Almera was developed by engineers from Japan, England and Russia. The start of production was scheduled for the first decade of 2013. By this time, the company had to build new shops for welding bodies and their painting, and the personnel working on the assembly line to undergo training under the supervision of Japanese specialists. The world premiere of the new Almera took place at the Moscow Motor Show on August 29, 2012. The Nissan Almera is based on the B0 platform, which also powers Renault models such as the Logan, Sandero and Duster, as well as the Nissan Terrano. The main advantages of the Nissan Almera are a large body, a spacious interior, an energy-intensive and sturdy chassis that can withstand Russian roads, as well as a reliable power unit. In addition, the Nissan Almera is distinguished by increased body rigidity, large space in the rear seat area, as in the D-class, steel protection for the engine compartment and lower piping, 160 mm ground clearance, reinforced suspension, a large area for cleaning the windshield wipers and increased to five liters with the capacity of the washer reservoir. The model was launched on time. The build quality and compliance with standards were monitored by Nissan representatives. In March, the first cars appeared in dealer warehouses and immediately became in high demand. In its original form, the Nissan Almera lasted a little over a year on the assembly line. Already on April 10, the release of the updated sedan of the 2014 model year began. The Nissan Almera received an optional "Comfort Plus" package, which included air conditioning, 15-inch alloy wheels, an audio system with input for external players, and Bluetooth. There were also minor modifications to the design, in the form of a rear seat backrest folding in relation to 60x40, which made it possible to transport cargo of greater length in the car. Now, as before, the Nissan Almera is offered with a single 1598 cc engine with 102 hp. (at 5750 rpm) and a torque of 145 Nm (at 3750 rpm). There are two transmission options for the Nissan Almera: a mechanical five-speed and a four-band automatic. From the first, the car accelerates to "hundreds" in 10.9 seconds, from the second - in 12.7 seconds. The Nissan Almera has a front-wheel drive only. Fuel consumption per 100 km on the combined cycle is 7.2 liters. for manual transmission and 8.5 liters. for automatic transmission.
