In the summer of 2002, the range of bodies was replenished with a five-door hatchback created for the European market. The car became the most revolutionary innovation in the entire history of the automaker. The model was equipped with the already well-known 1.6-liter QG16 engine, which develops power up to 109 horsepower. In addition to it, the car was equipped with a 116-horsepower QG engine, a 140-horsepower QR20 unit and a 126-horsepower YD22 turbodiesel.
