Lincoln is a luxury passenger car division of Ford Motor Corporation. The company was founded in 1917 by Henry Leland, the creator of the V-shaped gasoline engine. In the early years, only V8 engines for military aircraft were produced under the Lincoln brand. In 1920, on their basis, the production of cars began, which did not have commercial success. In 1922, the company was sold to Henry Ford, who quickly put the company on its feet. Lincoln crews were popular with politicians, police officers and gangsters. In the 1970s, cars of the brand began to be equipped with components and assemblies of the Ford Motor Company. Since 1997, along with luxury cars, the company has been producing the most luxurious SUV in the United States, the Lincoln Navigator.
