Acura Division, the North American division of the Japanese concern Honda, specializing in the production of executive and sports cars. Assembly plant American Honda Motor Co. was opened in California in 1986. The name "Acura" appeared in 1989. The main difference between Acura cars and similar Honda models is a sporty look and a higher level of standard equipment. Initially, only the Legend model was sold under the Acura brand, imported from Japan since launch in March 1986. Then the lineup was expanded and now includes eight families. Most Acura models are manufactured in the USA.
